Image Poem

Now i lay me down to Sleep - Kayla Schwartz

My dear bed, let me be your canvas

let your blankets paint me a fresh coat

let your pillows frame me

let your headboard mount me safely upon the wall

let me freeze and lay motionless

Still for all to enjoy

let the light fall in and reflect me

Dear bed let me be luminous in peaceful slumber
my body a hollow log ready to be filled

Bring a crowd to your bedside

let them congregate, let them whisper their thoughts

allow their dreams to become my dreams
tingling through my fingertips as I reach for that secret desire or
raising the hairs on my neck with the overwhelming fear

and then let me be
 give me my solitude, drape me with a white sheet
 Because my dear bed
there is nothing more for them to see
